Target group: Managers and employees in the sustainability departments of ten medium-sized organizations from the Bergisches Städtedreieck region

Format: 1-day training course on internal climate communication within organizations

 

Initial situation

“As a sustainability manager, how can I talk about climate issues in my organization in such a way that employees feel addressed and take action?” Ten participants from various medium-sized organizations in the Bergisch city triangle asked themselves this question.

ClimateMind's approach

ClimateMind developed a tailor-made and practical training program with the following components:

  • Introduction to Canvas Climate Communication – a tool developed by ClimateMind for designing effective communication projects on sustainability topics.
  • Inspiring input, including on the roles of values, emotions, and ambassadors in climate communication.
  • Practical exercises, including on developing appropriate framings and formulating concrete impact goals and suitable stories.
  • Transfer phases that established a direct link to the individual challenges of the participants and facilitated implementation in everyday life.

 

Results & Impact

  • New, valuable knowledge gained: Participants have developed a deep understanding of the psychological foundations of effective climate communication.
  • Target group made tangible: A psychologically based persona was created for each individual main target group to represent that target group.
  • Skills developed: Participants are now able to plan and implement communication projects related to climate issues. This enables them to address and activate their employees in a way that is highly targeted to the target group.
